Belize ranked among best places in the world to retire

By BBN Staff: The online financial and lifestyle resource site Live and Invest Overseas has listed Belize as one of the best places in the world to spend retirement.

A recently published report “The 10 best places to retire in 2021,” lists Santa Familia Village in Western Belize in the third spot, coming behind Algrave, Portugal and La Pinmtada, Panama, which took the top two spots respectively.

“Santa Familia, a village located in western Belize’s Cayo District, is truly a peaceful place to spend one’s golden years. It sits in the Belize River Valley, the breadbasket of the Caribbean, where vast amounts of agriculture is produced, casting a bucolic, rural charm over the place,” Live and Invest Overseas said. ” For retirees looking to assimilate into a local community, it doesn’t come much easier than it does in this welcoming little town. And, in fact, an active expat community is already well-established in Santa Familia.”

The other entries on the list were Saint-Chinian, France; Canoa Quebrada, Brazil; Medellin, Colombia; Las Terrenas, Dominican Republic; Huan Hin, Thailand; Abruzzo, Italy; and Paris, France.

Notably, Belize was also featured on the “Best Places to Retire in 2020” list.
