Traffic accident in Santa Elena leaves man clinging to life

BBN Staff: Ontario resident and well-known basketball player, Raul Roches is fighting for his life at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH).

Roches was driving his motorcycle from San Ignacio to Santa Elena around 2:00 on Friday morning and after crossing the Hawkesworth bridge, he reportedly crashed into the cement wall near Boiton’s BBQ. He sustained life threatening injuries and was transported to the KHMH for surgery.

Roches is a player in the National Elite Basketball League (NEBL) in Belize and is scheduled to play with the Verdes basketball club for this coming season.
