By BBN Staff: Today, the Orange Walk Town Council informed that the National Sports Council (NSC) has denied entry to the People’s Stadium where the annual Fiestarama Fair is scheduled to occur.

The Council notes that the NSC is demanding $5,000 payment for the use of the stadium. Traditionally, the council paid only $1000 for the use of the stadium.

While the local authority responsible for the stadium has granted permission to the Council to utilize the grounds for the annual Fiestarama, the NSC has refused to do so.

The trucks with the mechanical rides are presently parked outside of the People’s Stadium because they have been blocked from entering.

The Orange Walk Town Council is now calling on the Minister responsible for sports to intervene in this matter.

The annual Fiestarama fair showcases the entrepreneurs, vendors, producers, artisans and business persons of the municipality, and all the revenues are used to provide educational opportunities to the youths of Orange Walk.

Furthermore, the council says that despite political preferences, everyone should be working together to see the development of Orange Walk Town.
